Space Counting Clip Cards

Kids love learning about outer space! That’s why we pulled together a batch of counting clip cards that combine science and math into one motivating activity. This is a great math center for preschool or kindergarten to compliment a unit on space! #spaceunit #countingcardsStandard:  K.1.1.1. 1. Recognize that a number can be used to represent how many objects are in a set or to represent the position of an object in a sequence.

Purpose: Students will count the total number of space objects on the flashcards. There will be numbers listed at the bottom of each flashcard, students will then use a clip or some form of visual marker to demonstrate a knowledge of counting and number recognition.
This is a fun space math lesson which allows the students to work independently on their counting, number recognition skills.
If the teacher wanted to do a more advanced activity it would be possible to have the students create their own space math flashcards and present them to the class for the rest of the students to use.
Materials:

  • Clips
  • Space Flashcards
